Legal Fact of the Week: The National Security Act of 1947

 

The National Security Act would make changes.To be specific, these changes would affect the Department of War and the Navy. Additionally, it would dissolve each branch’s independence.

For example, they would be merge together as the National Military Establishment.

Additionally, the Department of the Air Force and the U.S. Air Force was created. Both branches were made separately from the Army Air Force.

The Act would become effective on September 8th, 1947.
