EGCR’s Legal Fact of the Week: The Securities Act of 1933

The Securities Act of 1933 was started by U.S. Congress on May 27th.  This act is a result of the Stock Market Crash and the Great Depression. Additionally, it was the first major regulation on the sales regarding security businesses.

The purpose of this Act was to safeguard buyers from bad investments or purchases. However, the act does state it is not illegal for a bad sale to be act out as long all information regarding the company is transparent. Lastly, it makes all security related business from after 1933 to deal with registration.
